Spring Rounds

Spring Rounds is an abstract animation inspired by Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. Conceived during the spring of 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the work reflects on human fragility and our relationship to more instinctive and elemental forms of experience.

Translating the rhythm and intensity of Stravinsky’s composition into movement, color, and material, I constructed the animation entirely from paper cut-outs and physical materials, without vector graphics. Red becomes a recurring visual element, tracing the tension, ritual, and energy embedded in the music.

The project explores how sound can be translated into material and movement, using an analog process to reinterpret a musical composition through abstraction.
